This week in Transitions...We had a visit from Otto the Auto to talk about safety. We worked on the American flag for Veterans day. (They are decorating our classroom now.) We learned about the letter M and played games to reinforce upper and lower case letters. In Social Studies, the students wrote a sentence...The Pilgrims came to America. The sentence was added to their projects after they created their girl and boy Pilgrim. They are displayed in the hallway next to our Mayflower. In Science, we started our animal unit. This past week we studied forest animals. I read several books to the children and then they drew a picture of a forest animal. Later, in the week we created our forest animal book. We colored, cut, glued and wrote out which animal was our favorite. On Friday in Science we cooked cupcakes and then decorated them as our forest animal, the owl. (Please see attached file) We worked on numbers during our computer integration class and played Thanksgiving based number games. Finally, this week we all had fun showing each other our turkey in disguise projects. What fun! The kiddos really lit up talking about how much fun they had completing this assignment. Next week, our letter of the week is Z. We start a new topic in math, prepositional language, in Science we are moving on to Zoo animals and in Social Studies we will continue the theme of Thanksgiving.
